    Man did I ever see a planer!

    I was down to the local cabinet shop today got the tour of all his new equipment, and he has this old out of place looking thing I had to ask what it was. An Oliver planer, will handle a 30" wide X 12" thick board. Weighs 8,000 lbs. the bed must be 6' long. Uses a sort of conveyor belt with soft tipped springs to hold the board down on the bed and to move it across the blades. Looks like 30" wide jointer with the conveyor added to the top. It was waaaay cool. And the neatest thing was he bought it off some auction on the net for $600. Just shows that deals can still be found.
