Dang what a finish!!!! I am amazed that Dale JR stepped out of line by himself and passed Tony Stewart,INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! That boy can darn sure drive
What makes it even better exactly 6 years after Dale SR won the 500.

RE: how bad have you got it?
That was a good race. Jr. didn't have much to worry about with Stewart since the 97 couldn't get close enough to help him with the pass.
I'm a huge Harvick fan and a 4th place finish isn't too shabby for the season opener!
Hope we see DEI and RCR in NY at the end of the season! :)

RE: how bad have you got it?
My wife is a motorhead and we went to indy five times starting in 1988 or so. Then Indy went to hell and now "we" are into NASCAR. Pretty cool. My 13 year old son has it bad too.
I never really liked Dale SR. on the track but know he had a lot of friends off of it and assume he was a pretty good/funny guy.
I am really impressed by Jr. I am a Dodge guy and the wife loves Rusty because she was a Pensky freak in the indy days. Chevy driving and all, Jr. seems like a pretty good guy. I just try to picture myself in his shoes. Good looking, best name in racing, lots of money. All the Budweiser you and your friends can drink.... I would be a total a$$ :-)
Last year rusty cut him off coming back out of the pits and cost him a chance at the race. He said "the no. 2 car didn't see me" and did not get ugly about it. He could have used rusty's name and ragged on about it. But he knows that rusty is a good driver and he and his spotter screwed up. I just thought that showed a lot of class and maturity.
Now Tony Stewart on the other hand... He is doing better but..
Did you hear him talking about John Andretti? I am not sure why John is on the track and that probably has something to do with why Tony was so torqued off.
If you did not hear it, it was somthing like "there are 10 days of racing here and john only has about three days of talent" I had to laugh.
As for Derek Cope.. . my wife and I take bets on how soon he will crash. He had both of us beat today. I thought he would make it 30 laps.
I must say that the commercials for Daytona are much on the same par as the Superbowl. Actually I enjoyed them as a whole more the then bowl.
I was thinking about the whole Indy car thing the other day. The idea was to make it more affordable. But now that NOBODY watches or goes to the races, I bet sponsors are not paying them a whole lot to put thier names on the sides of the cars. How did that help anything?
No.. they can keep the indy cars. Done with that. This is pretty cool stuff.

RE: how bad have you got it?
How Bad??? Really bad and it is the LOML's fault. She got me hooked.
I'm writing this on a dial up line, in a suite motel on Bill France Boulevard in Daytona Beach. (All of you guys on dial up have my sympathy!) This place is walking distance to Daytona International Speedway. Absolutely having a ball! The best part is that I scored this motel suite for $381....... FOR THE WHOLE WEEK!!!
Well our guy finished eighth after a most difficult starting position. We're going back tomorrow for the finish of the rain delayed Busch Race.
We're going to hit a few more NASCAR races this year and we're considering the "What's left of" CART race in Long Beach.
Funny thing is that I can hear my table saw calling.......

Don't have it so bad anymore ...
Went every year from '78 to '88. I loved it.
Back in the good old days, when they could pass.
When the last place you wanted to be was first on the white flag lap.
When Iron head hadn't won a 500 yet.
When Jaws hadn't won a 500 yet.
When men were men and sheep were ...
well you get picture.
