You talked about chaps...which one will you recommend and where should I look for one?

Note that I am an occasional user...looks/color doesn't bother me. As Sonny said Kevlar probably is best but not sure if it is affordable.

I'd recommend a set of "full wrap" chaps. The full wrap refers to the chaps encircling your whole calf as opposed to regular chaps which just cover the front. The prices run from $50 to $70 depending where and when. If they give you an inseam choice take 2" more than your actual inseam. I have a pair of full wraps by Labonville. They have had sales in the past for $47 but I paid about $55 for mine. There is an ebay seller, whose name is Jeff Sikkema, he has a website

What do you think of this? It ended but the seller claims they have more. Is it worth the asking/selling price of $65.00 plus $8.50 shipping? Note that this is 4 layers of Kevlar plus 2 outer layers of nylon.

I think $65 is high for used,oil stained, standard chaps. I also feel that the auction is BSing me a bit. They seem to be inferring that these are Forestry Service chaps, without actually saying so. Now Forestry Service chaps are supposed to be the high end in the chap dept. They are the priciest with regulars running $70-80 and full wraps $90-100. Also cheap chaps might have less than 4 layers of Kevlar, but these chaps aren't the only 4 layer chaps in town. I have read somewhere that Labonville has 6 layers and Stihl sells chaps and every accessory I've seen from Stihl is top notch stuff. Then they go on about the size that they are offering as being Forestry approved or whatever. There are certainly additional sizes available. The fact is that the 28" size they are offering is probably the slowest moving size and they got a good deal somewhere on overstock. Why?

From http://www.labonville.com/ shows how they will fit if ordered longer than actual in seam. I got mine 2" longer and they fit higher on the boot than the pic. I like the fit in the pic, next time I might go 4" longer. This pic also shows the full wrap feature very well. These are 15% off via the site for $56 :)

You can clearly see at both sites that other sizes do exist and folks that know chaps generally order them long, so the 28" which is the smallest size might not sell as well.

I basically did not like their auction page because there are too many things on it that would make me feel like I'm being sold something as opposed to me buying something.
