RE: I lost a good friend and companion......................
I think you made the best choice for a mutitude of reasons.
Give lil corgie some extra attention and always remember the good life you've given your friend and the heaps of love you and family got in return. Kinda like how life should go round.

RE: I lost a good friend and companion......................
It's a special relationship between a man and his Dog. But rarely do we grieve formally about a great friend's passing.
My condolences as well.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Monty. But, you likely made the best decision, although a heartbreakingly difficult one. I had to make the same one a few years ago with my old lab Max at age 15. Those are tough times, but we have to do what's best for our friends who have loved us and trusted us for their care. He was lucky you loved him enough to see past human selfishness and relieve his suffering.

I am not a crying person, but when I had to put my "Brandy" to sleep, I cried uncontrollably, like a baby.
I don't know what it is - but they do get close to you, INSIDE, close.
Sorry to hear about the loss.

RE: I lost a good friend and companion......................
My best friend closed his eyes last
night, As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through
my head, As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And OH...his many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Monty; I know the pain your feeling friend, we laid a Rot/Shepard mix to rest 2 years ago, There hardly a day goes by when I don't think of Brutus for some reason. One of my best memories of him was when we brought Kenda our lab home. Just 8 weeks old she wasn't sure what to make of this 120 pound behemoth that wanted nothing more than to play with her. But he won her over just like he won me over the day he wondered in our lives.
Give Louie some extra attention I'm sure he needs it about now

RE: I lost a good friend and companion......................
This is the one of the most heart wrenching things to endure... it really tears us up inside...
.... and the only thing that can make me feel better is convincing myself that they are now free of pain...
I know you would rather have your friend still here.... but he doesn't hurt any more now...
