Snowblower Test?
After falling asleep in my recliner and finally getting to bed at 4:30 am, I just woke up about 45 minutes ago to find snow-covered ground and it's still coming down. It looks like we have 2 inches already and we could get as much as 4. Some schools have closed.
Depending on how much of this is sticking to the pavement, I may finally get a chance to check out that snowblower. "YESSSSSSSSS!!!
The down side: I have to drive 10 miles in this, through or around road construction, for a doctor's appointment.

It is snowing in Winfield and downtown St. Louis too. You are welcome to try out your snowblower at my house anytime.

And here I am at 5000 ft elevation thinking about running the lawn sprinklers today. Taint fair.
Measure once... cut twice.

DARN! DARN! DARN! A few inches on the lawn, but not enough on the driveway or sidewalk to even get a shovel out. Oh, well!! Maybe next time.

2 inches of snow and they are already canceling school? What a bunch of whimps down there in the Show Me state. But then again so are the Rams and Cardinals.
When I was single living in Minnesota the tradition of my roommate and I was if we got 6inches of snow or more we had to go buy a 12 pack and chicken wings then fire up the grill and PARTY.
Life used to be so much fun.

RE: Snowblower Test?
I'll let the Rams and Cardinals comment pass, since being so far north your brain is probably frozen. :P :P
But you are right about how quickly they close schools. Having grown up in Iowa, I can't remember many, if any, snow days. If the bus couldn't get to you, you had to walk to the nearest street the bus could travel on. I remember even having to walk more than a mile to school; rain, snow, wind, or sunshine. That wasn't bad for the one semester I went to the new school across the street, but I spent most my school years at other schools.
I think the problem is the fear of lawsuits, and people down here not really knowing how to drive on snow. I have to admit I've gotten to where I don't like it, and try to avoid it; especially when you get idiots who think that 70 MPH is to slow to drive even on ice and snow packed interstates.
Those of us from up north know how to drive on snow... and when it's smarter not to.

Was it uphill, boths ways? ;-)
Here in Connecticut in the old days the Superintendent of Schools looked out the window upon awakening, and if it looked bad outside, school was cancelled. Now I think you're right, the decision is made based on fear of litigation.
My kids approve though.

RE: Snowblower Test?
Aw, come on. You know that we here in MO never get enough snow to run a snow blower :)
Heck, I haven't even shoveled my driveway since we bought the house 9 years ago.
We never get enough snow. That's a bummer too. How am I going to teach my son the proper way to make a snow fort if it doesn't snow??
We need another one like the snow we had back in.. 79 or was it 82?? When the snow drifts were 8 feet high??
THAT would be awesome.

Yep, they would probably close your schools at 20" of snow... Right? :) :)
Have Fun!

Naw! That doesn't come until I get old enough to start telling that it was five miles each way. :P
