RE: Daughter got her MCAT score for the first time

My wife is from Nashville we travel there often. We'll make a point of catching up next time we're in town.

I stayed in a hotel right across the street from Vanderbilt when I was in Nashville a while back. Beautiful Campus.

    Kerry,
If that was meant for me, I'd love to catch up with you, but while Nashville is my hometown I now live in West Palm Beach, Florida. So c'mon down and have a mojito!

CjR, Congrats!!! That is a good GLOAT!!! As expensive as medical school is...I hope that won't bother her any. Given the right place and time, she can pay that off in less than a year of practice, with lots of extra for whatever she wants ;).

Jerry, I've visited Vanderbilt campus a few times and have to agree that it is a nice campus. A bit crowded now though...buildings are getting too close to each other IMHO.

    Dario :)

    Hi Folks,
My daughter got MCAT 39 with outstanding GPA of 4.0. Put her in Med School and 2 nd year ending now, I am bankrupt.
I have put in all my investments, earnings, house mortagaged for her studies. At the end of 2 nd year, I am totally nothing in hand now. I cannot even stop at this moment as she is still maintaining topper her in MD school.
As one of you said rightly, 6yrs pain she has to go through with meagre earnings that suffice for her own expenses during residency. I am not sure if as a Dad I can take care of her atleast next 2 years to finish MD.
Med School is not easy to go thorugh if Parents are not rich enough. Lot of stress both on parents and child eventually breaking healthy relationships too.
If I would have know earlier, never taken this kind of route rather undergrad with 2yrs MS or MBA would have fetched decent 70K to start with.
As a parent, I cannot even expect my life investments to return back as my daughter will become 30yrs old when her real earning start. So as a parent, I am not seeing any end of light for my old age.
This is a true story and not exaggerated one.
One more thing, if someone says you would have gone for loans, answer is still that will not be sufficient. Loans cover only Tuition fee but lot of other expeditures such as boarding, books etc takes the Lion share from parents pocket.

Hence, Parents think before you jump in....
