This is not your father's Superman movie. Phenominal. Extraordinarily well made. The special effects are even better than you expect. Take that for granted. Now let's move on.
There are layers upon layers upon layers here. Multiple plot angles, all kinds of rich imagery and multiple levels of symbolism going on. It's one of those movies that you could probably see 3 or 4 times and keep finding new details hidden all over the place. This is really classic movie-making.
The raw action keeps the kiddies and the adrenaline junkies happy. It's got all kinds of "chick flick" love story stuff. And the artistic filmmaking is a really unexpected surprise.
This is no spoiler, if you have read any reviews about the movie. Not really giving anything away here. But the Lois Lane love story gets a very complicated love triangle twist, and it's tangibly painful to watch it unfold. You don't expect that in a Superman movie.
:) Yeah, I did notice they dropped that. The Daily Planet editor says "truth, justice, and all that stuff". They make a point about showing Superman saving people all over the place, especially a few scenes in Paris. :)
