    Need To Borrow a 14

I'm sorry if this is out of line, and if it is, tell me...

I don't have any woodworking friends here, especially none that would own a bandsaw, so I turn here. I have a small maple tree that I cut down, which now lays neatly stacked in 4ft. lengths (longest the arbors would leave it for me). I was going to turn it to slabs by hand, but realized that I lack the tools (and ability, for that matter) to do the job, but I'd still like it done. None of the local (and not so local) sawyers are willing to do it because its a small tree... or a yard tree... or whatever other reason they gave me.

I can't afford an 800+ dollar bandsaw, but I can afford to buy blades if anything happens and to obvious pay you the going rate for milling, or whatever you'd like to be paid. I bring the wood to you.

I'm located near Lake George, NY, but would be willing to drive a ways to get this done and to meet a fellow woodworker (since I'm alone but not quite in the dark in my area... thanks to the internet). There are about 6 or 7 sections, its Sugar Maple, no more than 10-12" in diameter... so it wont yield much wood at all, but perfect for my small projects.

I apologize if this is out of line...

    Thanks,

RE: Need To Borrow a 14

Eric, you DON'T live very far from me. Lake George to Rutland, across the "great divide" to the Connecticut River (at White River Junction), then a 20-minute final leg to Fairlee, Vermont.

I've got a riser-blocked 14" bandsaw. It wouldn't take much for me to rig infeeds & outfeeds for it. It could use some exercise, too... :)

The request you made is a long way from being out of line... it's well within the lines.

RE: Need To Borrow a 14

    Hi Tim,
IT certainly isn't far, just over 2 hours really and I know the route well as I drive to queechee a few times a year and over to Hampton Beach at least yearly, and have for quite a few years now

Thank you very much for offering, I just need to find a weekend-day that I'll be able to make it over there, possibly as soon as next weekend or whenever is available by you. I have some green wood sealer on the logs now to hopefully prevent any checking (they were sawed a week ago now).

Thanks again and PM or email me with a good time for you,
