    My hat's off..

to all the men and women that go out and restore power to our homes. Here in Iowa we had a nasty bunch of freezing rain and very strong winds. We lost power about 5:00 p.m. and by 8:00 they had it back on for us. Others are still waiting, but I know they are trying. I can't imagine being out in that storm much less climbing poles or whatever they do to keep us warm and happy.

    Ditto, Brent.

And add snowplow drivers to the list. It's nice to know that some people will head out into the crap at all hours to make sure life is a little better for the rest of us.

Yeah, you'd have to be tough to be a lineman. That looks like hard work on a good day, let alone during an ice storm.

I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work, the more of it I seem to have.

Yep, those guys are something special... at least the ones I've encountered.... most folks in dark residences, sitting dry during a storm have little appreciation for the diagnosing, planning and cautious repair work it takes to get us power again. :D

As much as I cus Alliant, they had our little town up pretty quick-30 hours. Some entire towns won't be back on 'til tomorrow as I understand it.

My parents might have electricity in the next day or two, but my uncles will be on the generator for a week yet. Thank god it didn't get really cold after the storm came thru. Would've been alot worse.

I just saw the headline in the paper, but did not get to read the article. One of them died trying to get the power back on for us. God bless.

I guess the bucket broke off his truck-ouch. My road dept still has a couple of roads closed due to big lines laying on the road's surface.

It would be a miracle in my opinion if some of these folks were back on next week.

Looks like they'll be hard at it again. Round #2 is getting set to hit us tonight. Expecting another 12"-20" and up to an inch of ice to start it off. Some folks in the ares still don't have power.

    It's a job, dude.
    Ain't for everyone.
But for some, it's a good way to make a livin.
Don't cuss the next time you are paying that power bill. ;)
