RE: The Year 1907 to today.

AND... my Seneca Falls "Star" metal lathe was manufactured. :)

Neat little lathe. Hand-scraped ways, still crazy accurate after a century.

But the car in that picture didn't come along for a while after 1907.

    THAT one's a head-ripper, ain't it?

I got to thinking about the National Debt a couple nights ago. Dang - as a country, we're a buncha' deadbeats, aren't we?

What if they ever ask us to pay up? That's a lot of money I'm not prepared to shell out, me!

Edit: Went from thirty bucks a head to thirty THOUSAND bucks a head in a hundred years. That's just too spooky.

That's kind of a quandry there since they and us is one in the same. Part of that debt is social security we have payed in and the government borrowed to pay for other things.

Oh no, is this turning political?

    Follow on the national debt:

    1907: $28 per capita

    2007: $29,411 per capita .... and counting

So, we could either fix this by spending less --- or having more babies....

. . . I can still remember the chants of 'no trillion dollar debt' back around the late 70's

Very edifying. Odd that coffee is cheaper now, if you figure price per pound vs. average hourly wage. And then there's this:

in 1907 there was no federal income tax. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Didn't exist... ;)

    Thanks,

    Bill
