RE: dog days
Heat index up to 104 today.
Humidity so thick you can get a drink by just opening your mouth.

RE: dog days
Hmmm... I live in West Palm Beach... the place that the Weather Channel in a recent survey determined to be the most consistently and oppressively humid metro area in North America (apologies to Houston and my adopted home of New Orleans). Today the actual high temp was 95 and the relative humidity was 89%. That puts the "heat index" somewhere in the neighborhood of 112 degrees Farenheit. So, yeah, it's hot... real damn hot... but then I don't have to shovel it.

When it was that hot, we always went over to Singer Island and onto the beach.

I live at the beach. The sea breeze helps, but hot is hot. I can only imagine what it's like in the western 'burbs.

RE: dog days
I have been building one deck and extending another one for the last week. The index has been right around 100 here in Iowa. I have never sweated so much in my life.

Heat index is 100 on Wednesday.
I guess that's cool compared to some areas of the country.

RE: dog days
We've been having relatively mild temps this summer in Central Texas. Don't think we've even hit 100 (aside from a couple days where the heat index broke the century mark). The rains kept the temp down till the last week or so, and now the more than normal moisture levels in the ground are using a lot of the heat energy to evaporate, keeping us in the low to mid 90s.

RE: dog days
The temp. has been around 100 degress here in St. Louis the last couple of days and it is supposed to be that way today too. Humidity is around 85%. The good news is that it is supposed to cool off and only get to 96 degrees tomorrow. :+
Out a/c quit this past Tuesday evening. Fortunately it was only the capacitor for the condenser fan but it still cost almost $300. The house got up to about 87 degrees before it was fixed which wasn't bad.
