That sounds like a prettily huge clamp... but probably not as effective as it seems. Because of the VERY COARSE screw threads, it'd be hard to get really heavy clamping pressure. On the other hand, once you got it snugged on something... there'd be little risk of that something expanding & opening the clamps.

I think, like Rich, that it'd be probably better to build one's own, tailored to whatever one is trying to do. You could certainly build (or get) clamps capable of doing everything that one can do... for far less than $250.

Still... if ya want a real "collector's clamp" for decorative purposes, that'd be the one. :)

Yeah, the price is a bit ourrageous for what it is . . . but I like that they put a long-iron in the picture for a sense of scale. :P

OTOH, I'm not sure where I'd go locally to find 2" threaded rod . . . certainly not the local Aubuchon . . . }>
