    Rollin' to the OKC

Later this year my wife and I are planning a trip to Oklahoma City. We will be taking I-40 from Charlotte all the way. Were going to have a little time on the way back. We went to college in Nashville so we are only interested in attractions west of Nashville. Got any suggestions? Anything to avoid?

Memphis is a pretty interesting place to visit. If they have a festival downtown when you roll through it would be a cool stop.

I was actually thinking of Graceland, never been. Wondering if it is worth it.

If you are a big time Elvis fan, it's a must see. If you are a casual Elvis friend, it's like a fried peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

I agree. Memphis was the half way point on our last trip from Texas. Wife wanted to see Graceland. I enjoyed the museum. The house is probably pretty common by todays standards. I personally would not go out of my way to return to Graceland. I have pics if you would like to see a sample.

Just after you enter OK watch for Vian. Speed trap city. About 30 some odd miles from the OK/AR line. When you come through Sallisaw you will be 50 miles north of me. Just came through there an hour or so ago.

If you're not a huge Elvis fan, there's always Beale Street with BBQ and blues music.

Hot Springs Village in Arkansas might interest you.

If you swing farther north, Branson, Missouri is a big tourist attraction with it's family oriented country music shows.

lwilliams, who I saw is still visiting the forum lives in northern Arkansas. He's an accomplished tool maker (hand planes, etc.) You might want to give him a holler.
