    CA Glues

I checked out Monty's website and will be order glue from him, no doubt.

Question - I'm looking at getting the thin stuff and the thick stuff. What kind do you guys use mostly?

What is used in woodturning mostly?

Silly question maybe, do people use thin CA glue to as a top-coat over pens and stuff? How do you go applying that?

    Thanks!

Applying CA as a finish is one of those topics.... you know, where there are as many answers as there are penturners...

    Here's my method. [link:www.woodhelp.com/Tips.htm#PenFinishing|Click Here]

I use thin and medium. I've never had a need for thick.

    Zac,
If you go over to the IAP forum and look in the library - [http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1488]
you'll find lotsa reading on CA as a finish.
I use thin and sometimes medium for a pen finish and thick to glue tubes in. Thick is also good for filling small cracks and gaps. If the gap or crack is large, I use something like crushed turquoise or coral in the space and then saturate with thin CA, it will wick in and hold the stone in place.

    RE: CA Glues

I use mostly thin and medium, but every once in a while I use the thick when I want a clear fill. A good example is on my pine cone turnings where I use thick CA to fill any holes that are left when a nut pops out.

Um, that did not sound quite right did it??? I know someone is going to have to give me a hard time about that wording ;)

Also, if you ever "over turn" something, thick CA can sometimes be used to bring it back to where you want it without looking too bad (DAMHIKT).

I go for the Thick stuff most of the time...

I have used the Thin stuff to strengthen screw holes and around the countersink... Just dab a little and let it soak in...

    Medium, I hardly ever use...

Thick is my favorite... it's so much easier to control! :)
