Coast Guard approved Distress Light
Hi all,
Local Game and Fish are coming down hard on a few boating requirements including distress flags, flares etc.. on lakes. They are also are calling for Coast Guard approved flashlights that automatically flash SOS in morse code when turned on. The problem is i cannot find one. Everywhere i have looked, it seems the lights are no longer available. Anyone have any ideas where i can find one?
Thanks,
Mark

RE: Coast Guard approved Distress Light
Just asked my son, who is in the CG and he's never heard of a flashlight requirement like that. Might wanna check with your local G&F and for the exact wording of the requirements.

Here is a link form the USCG site. http://www.uscg.mil/hq/cg5/cg5214/vds.asp#161.013The flash light is an alternative to flare for recreational boats during nite.
Arkansas Game and Fish requires Coast Guard approved distress signals on federaly reulated water ways for all recreational boats.
I'm not debating Coast Guard / Game and fish regs, i'm simply asking if anyone knows wher i can find one of these lights

My bad. I was reading that as "flashlight" not flashing light".
I would think something like this would work -
