    HF 12x33 3/8

    Hello all i'm new to the hobby and after months of watching video and reading articles I finally made the jump. I found a used HF 12x33 3/8 lathe along with some acc. Been turning along for about a month now and the most famous issue with this lathe has finally struck. While roughing out a bowl the belt blew. I found mention of a Gates belt through reviews so I went and got one. My problem is that I don't think this has been changed before and nothing seems to want to move. I'm not familiar with this pulley system so I don't see how whatever part is supposed to move to install the new belt should move. I do see that 1 side of each pulley is under spring tension but the only 1 I can get to open up is the spindle side. I can't get the motor side to budge and fear applying too much pressure would break something since they are just cast parts. Is anyone familiar with the process? I would greatly appreciate any help you guys could offer.

    There isn't allot of traffic on the Turning Folder any more . You might want to ask your question here.
