    Air conditiner compressor fan burnt out??

    My air conditioner no longer works and I live in TEXAS!!!!! My initial diagnosis and research has indicated that the fan does not turn on when the compressor starts. The compressor runs for a few minutes and shuts down. I presume this is a self protection process since it is over heating due to the fan not working.

    There are some links on fan motors that say there may be a reset switch. This is an older compressor and it does not appear that there is one.

    I am thinking about replacing it and it is only $75.00 on Amazon. Do you think this will fix it??? That would be great if it's that easy!!!

    Why don't you go to a service center, they may find out the actual problem and fix it.

    Fan changing is not an easy task, there are many little parts which may be dislocated in fan changing procedure, if you don't have any experience then don't do it yourself. Call an expert.
