installing hinges
I am not a complete rookie but there is so much I do not know. I am trying to figure how to install small hinges on my project. It is a clock case. No problems on putting the hinges on the case side but how do I align the holes for attaching the hinges to the door?
Any tips would be appreciated.

You are using butt hinges that get mortised into both the case and the door, right? I usually lay out and cut the mortises in the case, then set the door in position, carefully shimmed for an even margin all around, then use a sharp knife to transfer the mortise locations from the case to the door. Vix bits can help to get the screw holes centered on the holes in the hinges.
