What kind of wood is this?

I was fortunate enough to come across a rather large load of wood that was for sale. As it turned out, the guy just gave it all to me so he wouldn't have to move it anymore. I got 2 big trailer loads of this and never got to ask exactly what kind some of it was. After running some of it through my plainer, I was surprised at just how pretty this stuff was! problem is, I have no clue as to what it actually is. Any help would surely be appreciated.

Yes, black cherry. If you find any "greenish" tinges in coloring in a board, that makes it pin cherry, slightly less desirable.

    Great find.

(best to stack the boards flat, not touching any concrete)

It sure is very pretty! Your work showed the wood’s natural beauty.
