Lots of interesting reading there Frank. I like the jig you built too, makes alot of sense.

One more question, if you look at the Radial Arm Saw that I bought you will notice that the arm does not pivot at the back of the arm, it has a second arm that pivots midway out. If I remember correctly one of the older DeWalts had the same type of setup. Anyone see any advantages or disadvantages in that design ?

I have a Craftsman Radial it was my main saw and moulder until I bought up. Now it has become a catch all. I do still use it to cut lumber to rough length, then finish off on either table or miter saw. I don't think I would give it up.
