Purple Heart and sanding
I was messing about with some purple heart and it turned brown when sanded.
The inside of cuts stayed purple- its not like it was only purple on the outside. But sanding turned it a dark brown.
Can someone explain??
Thanks,
T

That is a characteristic of purpleheart - it will turn brown eventually. All you can do is slow down the browning. I believe it reacts with oxygen and/or UV rays.
There are several other species that do this.
