Workbench top
At work they were throwing away an old beat up wooden desk. The top was still good and I salvaged it. I plan to use it for a top to a workbench. The top is in good shape. The bench will eventually have some type of vise mounted to it and would be a multi-purpose bench. My question is this- since the top is stained and varnished/shellaced, should I:
a.) Lightly sand the top smooth and use as is.
b.) Strip and sand it, then polyurthane it
c.) Glue formica laminate to the top after stripping and sanding it.
This will be my first real workbench. I'm also open to suggestions on making a base for it. Peferably with wheels.
