    A newbie with a question

First off thank you for having me here, I do appreciate the opportunity to learn from a wide group such as this.

My question is, I'm making a pepper mill and the wood I'm using jobillo, has a low rating but still shows some toxicity. I need to finish the inside of the mill but am not sure what type of finish to use, any suggestions?

    Thank you.

General Finishes makes a product called "Salad Bowl Finish." Its non-toxic when dry. Rockler has it for $12.99. I don't know that ordinary varnishes and polyurethanes are problematic when dry, especially when used with a dry materials such as pepper.
