Lid supports.
Hi All!
I'm getting ready to attach some lid supports to a hope chest and have a slight problem. The location of the top bracket screws fall exactly on the joint line where the panel and rail meet. Any suggestions? I was wondering if I could put a decorative thin block there or would that change the dynamics of the support?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this subject.

RE: Lid supports.
Could you give dimensions of the frame and which bracket you are using. Pictures would help. This info would help in coming up with alternatives.

RE: Lid supports.
I have seen those lid supports put in the center as well as at the ends of a lid. Does simply moving it laterally help? An added block should only slightly change the position of the other end of the support but it should change it...depending on the thickness of the block.

RE: Lid supports.
If you can't move the bracket, then dowel out he hole with a 12/" dowel. Either should take care of your issue.
