My Drill Press can do WHAT?
I ordered the drawer pulls for the dresser/changing table to match the sports theme we have going on in the nursery.
They are knobs shaped like baseballs, footballs, basketballs and soccer balls.
However, for the door, I figured a knob wouldn't cut it since the door stands about 34" tall.
I bought one of those little mini baseball bats last night that I planned to use as a handle. Problem is it seems too long and just doesn't look right.
Then inspiration struck me and I couldn't resist trying it.
My idea was to use my DP as a lathe since I don't have one.
And you know what, it's actually working!!! Slow-going, but it's working, lol!

RE: My Drill Press can do WHAT?
Wow, that is cool, Carl. And that DP puts mine to shame!!
I came up with another idea that was likely more work than I oughta be taking on with only about three weeks left until D-Day. Well, maybe not so much work, just time-consuming.
I was looking at my finished bat and it seemed kinda plain. Then I harkened back to my little league days and the good ol' Louisville Slugger.
So I jumped on a paint program and drew up an oval. Then I wrote his intended name in a cool font and bolded it.
I printed that onto a blank mailing label and then stuck the label onto the bat.
At that point, the time-consuming part kicked it.
With an Exacto knife, I slooooowwwwllllyy and every so carefully started cutting out the letters and the oval. It wound up taking about two and a half hours.
So now I had the logo in "negative" on the bat. I taped off the rest of the bat with blue tape and then applied like three coats of flat black spray paint.
Three coats of poly later and it's ready to go.
Here are a couple of pics:
