One of the bolts has worn the wood away on our gliding rocker. I fixed it about 2 months ago, but my repair job did not last. Does anyone know how I could fix it permanently without replacing the wood?
LAST EDITED ON Aug-15-01 AT 06:55AM (CDT)[p]Not knowing how much wood is worn away I would suggest this:
Install a bushing into the wood. A bushing is a sleve of metal that the bolt would fit thru. You would need to measure the width of the piece of wood and go to the hardware store with the bolt and ask them for a piece of pipe or tubing (Steel)that is just a bit larger than the bolt. Drill out the wood so that the bushing fits snuggly into the wood (no slip)and cut it to the width of the wood. Attach the bolt and you are done. The bushing will wear out a lot slower than the wood. Hope this helps.
Looking for plans for a dining room table that can collapse down to 4 place settings and expand out to 14 to 16 place settings. To further add design problems, leaves, etc should be self storing.
