staining oak floor
long story short- my brother was repairing his oak floor and the guy at lumber liquidators gave him red oak instead of white oak. He didn't realize it until after the flooring was installed and sanded. Now he needs to blend the red and white oak. Any suggestions how best to do this. Staining white oak, whole floor, bleaching red oak?

Neither. If you go (he goes) over the whole floor with ordinary oil-based polyurethane (or any other finish that yellows), the difference will disappear almost perfectly.
Serious. Have him verify that with scraps of both & see how well they blend with each other after they've been polyurethaned.

RE: staining oak floor
I've mixed red and whit oak in a sigle project, and after stain was applied you don't notice the difference.
