Miter Saw as Metal Chop Saw
I occasionally replace my metal compound miter saw blade with a metal cutting abrasive cut of wheel to cut through metal. Should I not do this? The RPM's are about the same for a chop saw. Will this hurt the brake on the saw?

Not such a straight answer but it seems to be a common practice.

RE: Miter Saw as Metal Chop Saw
David,
I have been switching blades back and forth on a DeWalt 12" CMS for years and have never noticed any adverse affects to the saw or the quality of cut I receive on either product. Also, have put metal abrasive cut off blades on and off of my circular saw, a Porter Cable, and have not noticed any decline in performance. One note, I vacum the daylights out of the saw after cutting metal so that there is no chance of any shavings, splinters ect. marring the surface of the next board I cut. Hope this helps.
