i am making a compter desk for my sister and her husband and was going to use poplar. does anybody know where i can get a sheet of poplar plywood for the desktop, or if not, can anyone suggest another plywood i might use that would be similiar in appearance and texture?
Poplar is considered as the poor mans answer to cherry (not as good as birch or the real thing). Only because of its similar grain. To compensate for the green to brown natural coloring wash the effected areas with a 50/50 bleach/H2O solution, flush completely. As for what plywood? I think I'd opt for birch veneer .
Hi Russell,
I am interested in where you acquired the inlaybanding in the last picture?
I make and sell this or very similar on www.inlaybanding.com
