Gluing plywood drawer bottoms?

Q. This woodworker usually makes his drawer bottoms so they fit in a slot, to allow for movement. He heard that if you use plywood bottoms, you can just glue them in because they won't move much at all.

(Simon Watts) "It just makes a mess that's difficult to clean up."

(Rob Johnstone) "He heard correctly. But the inverse is true as well; you don't really need to glue them in place."

(Michael Dresdner) "Yep, that's true."
