I installed the rather large safety switch shown below a few months ago and it works so well that now I can't imagine how I got along without it. It is simple to make, the only hardware required being two 3" butt hinges. The swinging frame screws to the underside of the table and I padded the "off" paddle with extra foam to ease pressure on the switch. I used 2-1/2" ash - which I happen to have plenty of — to make my frame, but any scrap hardwood would do equally well.
