Rockler's I-Semble® 3-Rod Hairpin Legs elevate this solid, stylish and easy-to-build desk. Easy-to-find plywood and Hairpin Legs are key to this project. Simple, solid construction techniques help this DIY project come together quickly.

1

Cut the Pieces

You will need to use 3/4" thick hardwood veneer plywood for the top and 1/2" thick drawer stock for the drawer assembly.

2

Build Drawer Box

You will need to build 2 of these. Construction techniques are the same for both. Align top of Part C with tops of both Parts B before marking dowel locations. Secure dowels with wood glue.

3

Install Drawer Bottom

Slide Part D into grooves in drawer box assembly. Secure the bottom to the back with nails or screws driven from underneath.

4

Install Slides on Drawer

Align the front edge of the slides’ drawer components with the front edge of the drawer box.

5

Build the Case

Center each cabinet component of the drawer slides along the height of Part G. Position the front of the slides 3/4" back from the edge. Secure dowels with wood glue. Note: Two interior dividers (G) are secured with glue only. Position them so that the drawer opening is 13" wide.

6

Install the Drawer Fronts and Knobs

Drill 5/16" holes in drawer fronts to allow for adjustment when mounting drawer face. Aim for a 1/8" gap all the way around the drawer face. Sand lightly and apply your choice of finish. Note: Cover all exposed plywood edges with matching edge banding.

7

Attach the Legs
